Iowa Department for the Blind Waterloo Office Closing

For many years, the Iowa Department for the Blind has striven to provide quality services to Iowans who are blind or visually impaired.  We have found that the very best results are achieved by bringing the services directly to the homes, workplaces, and communities of the people we serve.  Contrary to the popular trend, the Iowa Department for the Blind still makes house calls.

Given this emphasis on outreach, our office space in Waterloo is used minimally by staff and rarely visited by clients.  We have determined that it is not necessary to maintain a physical office to best serve this area.   As a result, the office space located at 3420 University Avenue in Waterloo will be vacated on January 29, 2010.   This does not involve any change in staffing and will not interfere with easy access to services.  All representatives currently serving northeast Iowa will continue to provide the same level of services you have come to expect from the Department, and perhaps more importantly, we will continue to work directly with the people whom we serve in the areas where they are located.  Staff associated with the Waterloo office may now be contacted at the following address:
