Using Measuring Cups

• Use nesting measuring cups for liquid and dry ingredients. A set of metal or plastic cups usually contains a 1-cup, one-half-cup, one-third-cup, and one-fourth-cup measure. You can tell which cup is which by comparing their sizes.

Measuring Liquids

• To measure small amounts of liquid without spilling, store the liquid in wide-mouthed jars. Bend a metal measuring spoon at its base to make a ladle, and then use it to dip the liquid out of the jar. Liquids are easier to measure when they are cold.
• Measure liquid medicine with a liquid medication guide available from the Department's Aids and Devices Store.

Measuring Lengths

• To measure lengths in inches or centimeters, use a ruler, yardstick or measuring tape with raised markings.
• You can also measure items with a rotomatic to an accuracy of 1/64 inch.
