Weekend Retreats
The Iowa Department for the Blind sponsors two transition weekend retreats for blind and visually impaired teens. Young people from all areas of the state join together for programs designed to help them develop self-confidence and learn nonvisual approaches to performing daily tasks. The retreats are also a great way for teens to meet and share experiences with other young people experiencing vision loss.

Who Can Participate?
Transition weekend retreats are open to blind and visually impaired Iowans ages 14 to 21 who have not yet graduated from high school. They must also be eligible for vocational rehabilitation services from the Iowa Department for the Blind.
